Aspirin Enteric Coated Tablets 100mg "Nichiiko" antiplatelet agent

Contents

It is used as a basic drug for antiplatelet therapy. Aspirin, the active ingredient, is a very old drug that has been used for many years as an antipyretic and analgesic. Recently, it has often been used to treat thrombus and embolism by applying its antiplatelet effect at low doses. Bayer Aspirin tablets are newly approved as a thrombus prevention drug based on its antiplatelet effect.

It has also been approved for use in Kawasaki disease in infants and young children. It is used to suppress cardiovascular disorders associated with Kawasaki disease. In this case, the anti-inflammatory effect of high-dose aspirin is used to suppress inflammation of blood vessels and myocardium in the acute phase, and the antiplatelet effect of low-dose aspirin is used to suppress thrombus in the chronic phase.

This medicine is designed to dissolve in the intestines so as not to irritate the stomach. However, caution is still required regarding gastrointestinal disorders.

Efficacy

Aspirin acetylates COX1 (cyclooxygenase 1) in platelets, irreversibly inactivating its action.

It then inhibits the synthesis of TXA2 (thromboxane A2), which is involved in platelet aggregation, suppressing platelet aggregation. Due to this mechanism of action, it is technically known as a COX1 inhibitor.

○ Suppression of thrombosis and embolism formation in the following diseases

・Angina pectoris (chronic stable angina, unstable angina)

・Myocardial infarction

・Ischemic cerebrovascular disease (transient ischemic attack (TIA), cerebral infarction)

○ Suppression of thrombosis and embolism formation after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)

○ Kawasaki disease (including cardiovascular sequelae of Kawasaki disease)

  • The main ingredient of this medicine is aspirin. A small amount of aspirin acts as an "antiplatelet drug." It suppresses the activity of platelets and prevents blood from clotting. It is mainly used for angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and stroke (cerebral infarction), as well as cardiovascular disorders associated with Kawasaki disease. In addition, combination therapy with a thienopyridine antiplatelet drug is recommended for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA, PCI).
