Herbal medicine preparations used by monks undergoing rigorous training
Todaiji Temple in Nara, which conveys the culture of Tenpyo to the present. The "Shuni-e" line, known for its water removal, is a traditional line that has continued to this day for 1,200 years without interruption.
It is not uncommon for monks to get sick because of their rough deeds, but they are not allowed to see a doctor in the middle of the line. The only thing that is allowed is to take a crude drug preparation called "Shuni-e medicine". The late Dr. Takeshi Watanabe, who was a major figure in the Chinese medicine world in Japan and was commissioned by the Imperial Household Agency to witness a drug survey at Shosoin, stated that this Shuni-e medicine was the origin of "Kyushin" in terms of prescription. increase.
At Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and Todaiji Temple, which have a thousand-year history as a place of worship, worshipers are still given amulets called Ushidama Treasure Stamps. This is made by mixing Calculus bovis, which is the main component of <Kyushin>, with ink and printing it. Has been done. You can see how Calculus Bovis was trusted by people who wished for a disease-free life.
According to the late Dr. Takeshi Watanabe, inro carried by samurai at the end of the Edo period generally contained two types of pills.
One was a mixture of Bufotoxin, which is a cardiotonic ingredient, and silver foil was applied around the pills. The other was a prescription similar to Kiomaru, which was covered with gold leaf.
It is said that these two drugs were used to treat all sudden illnesses such as sunstroke, food poisoning, water poisoning, colds, and hunger on the long road. <Kyushin> contains the ingredients used in these two types of pills.
Origin of Kyushin
The origin of <Kyushin> is the family medicine "Ichigokusuri" that the founder, Masayoshi Hori, brought with him when he came to Tokyo from Toyama. The founder Hori family served the Maeda clan, a monarch in the Toyama domain during the Edo period, as a mentor of spear art.
Hori opened Horihiro Ai Yakubo in present-day Asakusa in 1913, and released this "Ichigokugusuri" under the name "Hori Rokujinmaru". At that time, I wanted to combine precious animal and plant herbal medicines, which were difficult to obtain without a handful of noble people, into a single medicine and have many people use it.
Originally used like a panacea, many users have said that it works well for the heart. Therefore, we made further improvements to the formulation and changed the name to "Kyushin", which is easy to leave an impression on the naming.
Initially, <Shinshin> was selling by mail order and over-the-counter sales to visitors, but when signs of increasing loyalty began to appear, it began to actively advertise in the mass media such as newspapers and magazines.
In the 30's of the Showa era, a newspaper advertisement that gathered together the three major comedians, Kingorō Yanagiya, Kenichi Enomoto, and Roppa Furukawa, attracted attention. Furthermore, since the spread of television in the 1965's, we have been developing television advertisements.
On the other hand, the keynote design of the <Kyushin> package has not changed since its release. It is a combination of the surrounding Raimon, the ding in the lower left corner, and the catchphrase. Raimon is a pattern that has been used in China since BC, and is a stylized lightning bolt that has been worshiped as a representation of the will of heaven. Ding was originally a three-legged metal object used to boil food, but it was regarded as a symbol of the throne of the Chinese emperor.
Having a long history is not the only proof of the efficacy of traditional medicine. Scientific support is important.
Since the latter half of the 1955's, <Rescue> has conducted basic experiments and clinical trials at research institutes, universities, and medical institutions in the United Kingdom and France as well as in Japan. In addition to pharmacological tests and safety tests, we also conduct pharmacokinetic tests, which are rare for traditional drugs, and we are focusing on confirming drug efficacy and establishing safety.
Kyushin was created with the hope that many people would use the precious herbal medicines for animals and plants, which were difficult to obtain unless they were a handful of noble people, fused into a single medicine.
Kyushin's thoughts
In recent years, it has been exported to various countries, mainly in Asia, and has been highly evaluated. This small grain of <Kyushin> contains a lot of experience and science, and the spirit of Kyushin Pharmaceutical, which wishes for the health of people around the world, based on the spirit of the founder's ideal of "sickness".
